Canary Islands cruises from Barcelona: Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Madeira

Celebrity runs the most Canary Islands cruises from Barcelona: 12-night round trips, November to March, to Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, often Madeira, and Tangier or Casablanca. Costa, Norwegian, Explora, Regent and Oceania add their own, many one-way to Tenerife, Gran Canaria or Lisbon. In summer, most trips past Gibraltar turn around at Madeira and skip the Canaries.

Celebrity runs more Canary Islands cruises from Barcelona than any other line, mostly 12-night round trips that leave between November and March. They call at Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria, often with Madeira, and with Tangier or Casablanca in Morocco on the way out or back. Costa, Norwegian, Explora, Regent and Oceania add trips of their own, many of them one-way to the islands or to Lisbon.

62 sailings on our list go out past Gibraltar to the Canaries, Madeira or both, all in the table at the foot of this page. Not every one reaches the Canaries: in summer, most turn around at Madeira.

Which Canary Islands do cruises from Barcelona visit?

Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. Almost every Canaries trip from Barcelona calls at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and most also call at Arrecife on Lanzarote and at Las Palmas on Gran Canaria. Funchal on Madeira, which is Portugal, comes up on many of them too. La Palma appears on some Regent, Costa and Oceania trips, and Fuerteventura and La Gomera only rarely.

These counts include transatlantic crossings that stop in the islands on their way west, which the transatlantic guide covers. Every sailing that calls in the Canaries, crossings included, is on the Canary Islands page.

How long are Canary Islands cruises from Barcelona?

Mostly 10 to 12 nights, and 12 is the most common length: 23 of the sailings in this group run 12 nights. The ship has to pass Gibraltar and go out into the Atlantic, which takes time at sea: Celebrity's 12-night round trips have four or five sea days in the itineraries we held on November 4, 2026.

  • The range. From 5 to 20 nights.
  • The shortest. Costa's one-way trips in November, which end in Tenerife or Gran Canaria after a few calls in Spain and Morocco.
  • The longest. Regent and Explora, at up to 20 nights, add more of Spain, Portugal and Morocco, and in Regent's case Italy and Corsica too.
  • The fare. On November 4, 2026 the lowest starting fare on a 12-night trip in this group was $1,041 per person, for the cheapest cabin listed, with taxes and port fees included.

Which cruise lines sail from Barcelona to the Canary Islands?

Celebrity has the most, on its 12-night round trips through the winter. Costa sends Costa Smeralda one-way to Tenerife or Gran Canaria in November, Norwegian sails Norwegian Star to Lisbon by way of the islands in spring and fall, and Explora, Regent, Oceania and Windstar sell trips of 7 to 20 nights. MSC and Viking, both big at Barcelona, had nothing in this group on November 4, 2026.

When do Canary Islands cruises leave Barcelona?

For the islands themselves, mostly between October and April. Celebrity's round trips run from November to March, Costa's one-way trips leave in November, and Norwegian's in April and November. From May to September, the trips in this group mostly go only as far as Madeira, on Celebrity's and Royal Caribbean's Spain, Portugal and Morocco itineraries, with a few Regent and Oceania exceptions.

If the Canaries are the point of the trip, look at October to April first.

Do Canary Islands cruises from Barcelona come back to Barcelona?

Celebrity's do. Its Canaries trips are round trips, and 35 of the sailings in this group come back to Barcelona. The other 27 are one-way. Costa's and Windstar's end in Tenerife or Gran Canaria, Explora's in Tenerife or Lisbon, and Norwegian's, Regent's, Oceania's and Royal Caribbean's mostly in Lisbon. Some of Celebrity's summer Madeira trips end in Civitavecchia, the port for Rome.

A one-way trip means the flight home leaves from where the ship ends, so book an open-jaw ticket, also sold as multi-city: out to Barcelona, home from Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lisbon or Rome. Check the end port of your sailing first. The Lisbon page lists every sailing that calls or ends there.

Which cruises from Barcelona go to Madeira?

59 sailings on our list call at Funchal, the port our schedule lists for Madeira. Celebrity has the most of them: its winter Canaries round trips and its summer Spain, Portugal and Morocco trips. Regent, Explora, Royal Caribbean and Costa call there too, and so do several transatlantic crossings on their way west. Most Madeira calls come with Tangier or Casablanca on the same trip.

Which cruises from Barcelona stop in Morocco?

Almost every Canaries trip does, and so do many of the shorter ones that stay on the mainland side. 141 sailings on our list call at Tangier, 91 at Casablanca and 14 at Agadir. Celebrity calls at Tangier most often, Viking at Casablanca. Royal Caribbean runs 7-night round trips from Barcelona that call at both.

Does a Morocco call change the documents you need?

It can for some passports. Norwegian's documents page, read on November 4, 2026, lists US and Canadian passport holders among those who need no visa to go ashore in Moroccan ports. It says guests from countries not on its list need a visa from an embassy or consulate before the cruise, and without one must stay on board in Morocco.

The documents guide covers Morocco with the other ports outside the Schengen area. Your own cruise line's documents page is the one that applies to you, so read it for every country on your itinerary.

What about cruises to Spain, Portugal and Morocco that stop short of the islands?

These stay close to the mainland: out past Gibraltar to Malaga, Cadiz, Tangier or Casablanca, and often on to Lisbon. Many are 7 nights. Viking's 7-night trip calls at Palma, Cartagena, Malaga, Tangier and Cadiz and ends in Lisbon, and Norwegian's ends there too. 77 sailings on our list end in Lisbon.
